A Few Important Announcements


Do you miss the weekly itineraries? After marching season our MMMC family branches out to different performance groups and weekly itineraries aren’t necessary. Instead, Mr Philips distributed a new calendar at the winter concert for the Winter/Spring performance season. A few dates have changed since then and an updated version is posted below. The best way to stay updated is to visit the calendar tab on our website. You can even sync our calendar to yours and get updates automatically.

One of the more notable changes is that we regretfully made the decision to cancel the San Diego trip that was scheduled for April. It is still too complicated to plan an overnight trip. Mr Philips is looking into a different fun activity and we will update you once the plans are approved.

Banquet Committee

It is time to start planning the year-end Music Department Banquet. If you would like to be part of the committee, please reach out to booster president, Tamara Evans, at mayfairbandpresident@gmail.com. We welcome all parents that want to get involved and appreciate the help!

Hotcakes & Jazz

Join us on Saturday, January 29th 8:00-11:00am, for a wonderful morning of jazz music and breakfast. Parents who opted out of the fundraisers at the beginning of the year are entitled to two tickets as part of the opt out payment. Your student will receive them on Monday and you can use them yourself or give them away to friends or family. If you did not opt out, you are required to pay $10 for the tickets as part of the mandatory fundraiser. After payment is received, your student will get the pre-paid tickets from Mr Philips.

New this year! In the past, students could sell additional tickets ahead of time and earn money for their accounts. This year, students can still earn money for their accounts but all payments will be made at the door for Hotcakes and Jazz. A separate post will be made which you can share with friends and family to invite them to the breakfast and earn money for your account.

Weekly COVID Testing

LA County Department of Public Health has revised the testing requirements for playing wind instruments indoors. It now says “Perform at least weekly screening testing with either PCR testing or antigen testing of all individuals who are not fully vaccinated and participating in the group practice or performance.”  Therefore students who are vaccinated no longer have to test weekly.
